Child Performance and Licensing Policy

Updated: 26 March 2026

Policy for performers under 18 years of age represented by OA Talent (Company No. 17080224).

1. Regulatory Compliance

All professional performances by children under the age of 18 (or until the end of their compulsory school leaving age) are governed by the Children and Young Persons Acts 1933 and 1963 and the Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014. OA Talent ensures that every production follows these legal requirements.

2. Licensing

OA Talent will assist parents in obtaining the necessary performance licenses from local authorities.

3. Education and School Absence

The education of our students is a priority.

  • A performance licence will only be granted if the child’s headteacher provides a letter authorizing the absence from school.
  • Productions must provide a private tutor if the child is absent from school for more than a specific number of days, as defined by the Local Authority.
4. Chaperones

Licensed chaperones must be present at all times during professional engagements as required by law.

3. Working Hours

All engagements must comply with the Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014.

4. Safeguarding

Our school safeguarding policy applies to all agency activities involving children.

5. Parental Consent

Written consent from a parent or guardian is mandatory for all child representation and bookings.
